Delegation 2022:

Cow Deliveries & Community Catch-Ups

In April 2022, a Bosnia Trust delegation travelled through Bosnia-Herzegovina to meet beneficiaries, deliver cows, and connect with families supported by our rural livelihoods programme.

Here’s a summary of our two-day journey.

📍 Day 1 – Friday, 16 April 2022

Visiting Beneficiaries & Honouring the Past

Our journey began in Konjic Polje, where we visited Noura, a recent recipient of a cow through our outreach program. She affectionately named her cow Sharinka, meaning “many colours.” This gift has transformed her daily life, and we were deeply touched by her gratitude.

We then travelled to the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, where we

  • Met with local Muftis and Imams.

  • Performed Jumu’ah prayer

  • Paid our respects at the Srebrenica–Potočari Genocide Memorial, honoring the memory of over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys who were killed in July 1995.

Our next visits included:

  • Osman, whose cow recently gave birth to a healthy calf—bringing new hope and sustainability to the family.

  • Hayriya, a long-term beneficiary whose cow Shara (also “many colours”) has been with her for eight years and is now pregnant again, ensuring further economic security.

We were also pleased to receive a donation for a new freshwater well for a family living in a remote countryside area. This will significantly improve their daily living conditions.

🐄 Day 2 – Saturday 17 April 2022

Cow Delivery in the Mountains

On day two, we were joined by Samir, a senior Bosnia Trust volunteer who helps identify and coordinate livestock deliveries to families in need. As we ascended the winding mountain roads, Samir pointed out his birth village in the distance—a truly breathtaking view.

We stopped by the Drina River, which forms part of the border between Bosnia and Serbia, and took time to reflect and pray at the serene Kayseri Camii Mosque.

Later, we visited Edin and his family of ten, a household known for their resilience and strength in the face of hardship. Their newly delivered cow had arrived safely that morning—healthy, happy, and ready to support the family’s livelihood.

💬 Reflections & Impact

This visit highlighted the real, lasting difference Bosnia Trust’s projects make in the lives of ordinary families. From access to clean water, to sustainable farming through cow ownership, each gesture brings dignity, hope, and opportunity.

More updates to come as we continue our mission across Bosnia-Herzegovina.
