Climbing Mount Maglić for Widows of Srebrenica

My Story

In August, I will be leading a group of young, like‑minded women to hike Mt. Maglić — the highest peak in Bosnia — in honour of the Widows of Srebrenica.

This summer, I’ll be guiding a group of young, like‑minded women through a challenge that will demand strength, discipline, and courage: summiting Mt. Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina which stands at 2,386 meters (7,828 feet).

For us, this climb is a test of resilience.

For the Widows of Srebrenica, resilience has been a way of life. These women lived through one of the darkest moments in modern European history.

They lost husbands, sons, brothers — entire families — in a single week.

And yet, they continue to rebuild their lives with dignity, faith, and unbreakable spirit.

Our preparation, our training, our temporary discomfort… none of it compares to the decades of hardship these women have endured.

We are climbing to honour them. We are climbing to remember them. We are climbing to support them. Every step we take up that mountain represents: A step for a mother who still visits the memorial stones of her sons. A step for a widow who rebuilt her life from nothing. A step for a community that refuses to be silenced by tragedy.

Your donation will go directly towards empowering these women — helping them access support, skills, community, and hope.

If you can give, please do. If you can share, please share. If you can stand with them, stand with us. Together, we can honour their past and strengthen their future.

THANKING YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!
