Climbing Mount Maglić for Widows of Srebrenica

Rezwana

This August, I will be taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with Bosnia Trust to raise funds for the widows of Srebrenica.

For many years, Bosnia has been a country I have wanted to visit, not only because of its breathtaking beauty, but because of its rich history and the resilience of its people. When I learned about the opportunity to combine this journey with supporting a cause that makes a real difference, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of.

Over 30 years ago, the Srebrenica genocide devastated thousands of families, leaving countless women to carry the burden of loss, grief, and rebuilding their lives. Today, many widows continue to face financial hardship and need our support.

To honour their resilience and help provide practical assistance, I am aiming to raise £1,500. This cause is especially close to my heart, and climbing Mount Maglić is my small way of showing solidarity with these incredible women whose strength in the face of unimaginable loss continues to inspire so many. Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute towards supporting these remarkable women and easing some of the challenges they continue to face.

As I climb Bosnia’s highest mountain, I will be reflecting on the strength, patience, and perseverance of the widows of Srebrenica. I would be incredibly grateful if you could support this cause and help me reach my fundraising target.

May Allah reward your generosity, accept this effort from all of us, and make it a means of benefit for those in need.
