Climbing Mount Maglić for Widows of Srebrenica

Rima

This August, I will be travelling to Bosnia and Herzegovina on a humanitarian journey that I know will leave a lasting impact on me. The purpose of this trip is to learn about the history of the Bosnian War, witness its lasting effects, and meet the women whose lives were forever changed by the events of Srebrenica.

More than 3 decades have passed since the genocide, yet for many widows, the pain of losing their husbands, sons, fathers, and brothers remains a part of everyday life. While time moves forward, grief does not simply disappear. Many of these women have carried the weight of unimaginable loss while showing extraordinary strength, dignity, and resilience.

During our visit, we will have the privilege of meeting these women, listening to their stories, and supporting them through charitable initiatives funded by donations. This journey is an opportunity not only to learn from history but also to stand alongside those who continue to live with its consequences.

As part of this mission, I will be climbing Mount Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The challenge of the hike is small in comparison to the hardships these women have endured, but I hope that every step I take can serve as a symbol of solidarity, remembrance, and support for their ongoing struggles.

I have set myself a fundraising target of £1,500. Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help provide practical assistance and support to widows who continue to face financial and personal challenges as they rebuild their lives.

This cause is very close to my heart. By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to bring comfort, dignity, and hope to women who have shown remarkable courage in the face of immense hardship. Together, we can honour their resilience and ensure that their stories are not forgotten.

I would be sincerely grateful for any contribution you are able to make and for helping me reach my goal.

Thank you for your generosity, your support, and your prayers.
