The Marš Mira (Peace March) is an annual act of remembrance that follows the route taken by thousands of Bosniaks attempting to reach safety during the events surrounding the Srebrenica genocide in July 1995. More than three decades later, the march represents a tradition dedicated to preserving memory, honouring survivors, and ensuring that the human cost of war and displacement and their lasting impact are not forgotten. It is a reminder that the effects of conflict do not end when violence stops, and that sustained trauma, loss, and the work of rebuilding communities continue across generations. Supporting Marš Mira is a way of standing in solidarity with these ongoing efforts and helping to keep these stories and experiences in focus.

The journey itself consists of a three-day hike along the route starting in Nezuk, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on the experiences endured by those who lived the reality. Walking the path has become a symbolic tribute to the victims and survivors, and a way to honour the resilience of the individuals that continue to remember and pay respects to the people they lost. On the fourth day, participants attend the burial ceremony, where newly identified remains are laid to rest, allowing families the opportunity to finally bury their loved ones. The march serves as an opportunity to deeply understand that remembrance is not only about the past, but also about supporting those who continue to carry its legacy.

All donations raised through this campaign will go to Bosnia Trust (https://www.bosniatrust.com), an organisation that works alongside local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina to support long-term resilience. Their projects focus on creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, help preserve social ties and provide a sense of stability to affected communities. Among others, this includes programs supporting children and youth, assistance for families facing hardship and seasonal community initiatives. One of Bosnia Trust's ongoing projects is the Cow Project, which provides bred cows to families in rural communities. This enables households to nourish themselves through fresh dairy products while also generating income by selling surplus milk. Beyond creating a sustainable source of nourishment and food supply, it aids families in supporting themselves via small scale farming.

Supporting Bosnia Trust is also a way of contributing to the continued recovery and future of communities that continue to live with the consequences of war. Rather than providing short-term relief alone, their work is rooted in partnership, continuity, and investing in people and places so that communities can continue to thrive and support one another. Any contribution, no matter the size, is sincerely appreciated and will help support meaningful work on the ground by contributing directly to the projects they lead. Every donation is a gesture of solidarity and remembrance, and a way of contributing to the continued dignity of those whose lives have been shaped by the lasting consequences of war.
