The Cow Project

Sustainable Livelihoods, One Cow at a Time

Launched in 2013, the Cow Project is one of Bosnia Trust’s longest-running and most impactful initiatives. Through this programme, we provide bred cows to families across Bosnia-Herzegovina, offering a reliable source of

  • Self-employment and income

  • Nutritional support through fresh milk and cheese

  • Agricultural benefits from manure for farming

Each cow given is more than just an animal—it's a lifeline, helping families break the cycle of poverty with dignity and independence.

Project Growth Over the Years

Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors and support from the Office of the Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the project has expanded significantly:

  • 2013 – 2 cows

  • 2014 – 7 cows

  • 2015 – 12 cows

  • 2016 – 16 cows

To date, we've supported 21 families—and counting.

Why This Matters

For many of the families we work with, especially widows and those in rural communities, a single cow can mean:

  • Daily nutrition for children

  • Income from selling surplus milk

  • Long-term stability through calf births and small-scale farming

Your support helps us continue this vital work and reach even more families in need.

🙏 Want your Qurbani to have a lasting impact?

Support our Qurbani Project in Bosnia, which complements our Cow Project by providing families with not just meat for Eid but the means to sustain themselves long after.
